(PRACTICAL) In-class Activities
Kinetic Typographic Practice
✧ For the practical portion of the class, Mr
Martin demonstrated 2 ways on how we could animate
the lyrics from P!nk's song - So
What.
✧ Lyrics: So So What I'm Still A Rock
Star"
✧ I went with the 1st demonstration of using
the null object. I also followed the link from Mr
Martin's recommendation to perfect the animation. I
found through this exercise that it takes a lot of
time to create short animations like this &
learnt to not take any of the animations i see for
granted.
✧ By using a Null Object & linking other
layers to the layer helps a lot to create the
animation

✧ We choose BTS's Butter as the song for our
Exercise as it is also an upbeat song that fits into the
category of what Mr Martin suggested.

✧ I sketched out how I'd like the frames to look like roughly before starting out.
Inspiration & AE Progression
✧ For this exercise, I went on Youtube to search for a
few video references and I came across the below 2 which I
then learnt about doing a few tricks to elevate the
animation

Lecturer's Feedback:
✧ Mr Martin liked our group work on BTS's Butter,
he seemed to really enjoy our work! He mentioned our
group will be having a 6marks instead of the full 5
marks, which my group & I were overjoyed to
hear!
REFLECTIONS
This was a project that I didn't expect myself to enjoy. Although I will say Ae is the software where I am the weakest in, I overcome it by watching more tutorials by Mr Martin & on Youtube. The part in that I took was the rap part, which means everything needs to be fast passed and timed accordingly. It was out of my comfort zone but it was challenging in a good way. My groupmates were also very supportive of each other, we are very active on our communication platform.
