LECTURES

Week 01: (04.01.2022)

✧ Ms Anis briefed us on what we are expected to learn as well as explore in this semester. There was one project in particular that I personally am looking forward to - the Instructable poster which requires us to watch and determine which video from the Pasta Grannies we would like to breakdown on. I used to watch Pasta Grannies on Youtube so I am not a stranger to this channel.

EXERCISE

Exercise 01: Quantify & visualise data (04.01.2022)

✧  After the briefing, we were then told to look around our houses to search for items that we could possibly use for this exercise

Fig 1.1 Item chosen: Paper Twinkle Stars
✧  I found these paper twinkle stars that were gifted to me a decade ago and they just fit the category of what is needed for this exercise

Fig 1.2 The struggle
✧ Because it's been such a long time since I've last opened them, the paper stars in this glass were bottlenecked, so I've decided to only use the other 2 jars

Fig 1.3 The sorting
✧  The sorting of the stars (it sort of looks as if a Unicorn walked by and dump colours on my desk).
Fig 1.4 The sorting
✧ I've counted and group them into the sorted colours
✧ After getting the approval from Ms Anis, I went ahead and assembled it on a piece of A4 paper

First Attempt (04.01.2022)

✧ Because the nature of my material is very bulky and colourful, the best and neatest way of presenting the data is to arrange them in straight lines

✧ I've handwritten the recorded data and assembled it onto the A4 paper

Exercise 02: L.A.T.C.H (13.01.2022)
Fig 1.1 Screenshot of Exercise & Assignment Brief

✧  In this exercise, we need to include the L.A.T.C.H elements in the infographic we are to create.

✧  The topic I've chosen is to create an infographic about the 4 Hogwarts Houses & their members. I will be showcasing L.A.T.C.H. as stated down below.

        ✧  Location: Hogwarts
✧  Time: A timeline to showcase all the members of the houses
✧  Category: The 4 Houses (Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff & Slytherin)
✧  Hierarchy: Famous alumni ➩ Professors ➩ Students

Fig 1.2 Ideation board
✧  I've consulted with Ms Anis about this topic, she mentioned it will be an interesting one to see and suggested I look into the timeline of each character from the respective houses.

Fig 1.3 Potterverse Timeline Infographic
✧  I stumbled upon this website (Harry Potter Timeline) which showcases information starting with the born of the characters like Bellatrix Lestrange & Lucious Malfoy who participated in The First Wizarding World War and slowly transition to the era where the golden trio (Harry, Ron & Hermoine) were active. The timeline infographic ends with the characters from the Cursed Child (the descendants of the well-known characters of the Harry Potter series, namely Harry, Ginny, Ron & Hermoine's children)

✧  I came across another website (Harry Potter Fandom) that showcased the Wizarding World timeline which also includes the DoB of some of the famous characters in the series (Fantastic Beast & Harry Potter)

✧  The information obtained was from the Harry Potter Wiki (HERE). I've decided to rank them into 4 categories: House Founders
Famous alumni ➩ Professors ➩ Students

FEEDBACK

Week 01: Exercise 01, Quantify & visual data review (06.01.2022)

Lecturer's Feedback:

✧ I've shown Ms Anis 2 designs that I've narrowed down which were Design #1 & #4. Ms mentioned to go on ahead to submit with Design #1. Good formation shown for #1.

Week 02: Exercise 02, L.A.T.C.H. Idea review (00.01.2022)

Lecturer's Feedback:

✧ Because the only thing i know from Pokemon is legitimately just the yellow-striped creature, I've decided to go for something that I'm more familiar with. I've consulted my ideas with Ms Anis through Microsoft Teams.

✧ Harry Potter fits into the L.A.T.C.H. category and I've noted down how each of the elements will work with the idea.

✧ Ms Anis said it will be interesting to see the end results, she also suggested that instead of doing alphabetical order of arranging the names, I can do it in a timeline formation as there are lots of characters with different timelines.

Week 03: Exercise 03, Kinetic Typography review (20.01.2022)

Lecturer's Feedback:

✧ Mr Martin liked our group work on BTS's Butter, he seemed to really enjoy our work! He mentioned our group will be having a 6marks instead of the full 5 marks, which my group & I were overjoyed to hear!

REFLECTIONS

I was literally listening to the song "counting stars" when I legitimately counted stars for the quantify data exercise. It was a fun first class exercise that kind of set me back because it was such a simple exercise.

I was really excited when I'm told I'm able to use Harry Potter as the topic for my L.A.T.C.H exercise. Being a huge Potter fan myself, I liked researching for the characters' timeline and also in the process learnt more about the characters from the magical world.
